Enthusiasm is the Key
Everytime you speak, you influence the attitude of your audience. How is that possible? By your attitude. Attitude can be contagious. If you are trying to be funny (and are successful at it) your audience will laugh, chortle, and chuckle. If you are trying to be serious, this will be reflected back to you as well. So if you speak with conviction and enthusiasm, what happens? You have an interested, and possibly stimulated audience that may just mirror some of that excitement and passion back to you.
Have you ever given a passionate speech and while walking back to your seat you could literally feel the enthusiastic response in the applause of the audience? It's a great feeling, isn't it?
Enthusiasm is contagious, no doubt about it. So start by acting enthusiastic--put conviction in your voice, smile genuinely, and gesture emphatically. You'll come across as someone who really has something to say...and that's the key to becoming a great speaker!
